Common Vision Problem
Myopia(Nearsightedness) occurs when the your eye is too long in relation to the curvature of your cornea.
Hyperopia(Farsightedness) occurs when your eye is too short in relation to the curvature of your cornea.
Astigmatism occurs when your cornea is shaped like an oval or a rugby ball.
LASIK or LASEK?
The same results & range of prescriptions
LASIK is a nicer surgical experience for the patient as there is quick visual recovery, but more risk(very little) as in LASIK a flap is cut with a mechnical microkeratome.
LASEK has a slower visual recovery and is also more painful. The bigger the initial prescription, the slower the visual recovery.
Complications are rare with either operation.
LASEK is used mostly for people with corneas that are too thin or too flat for LASIK.(Special Case)
Except that, generally LASIK is recommended.
