2. 연구 내용 범위 및 방법
1) 피험자
두 명의 피험자가 실험에 참가하였다 (WYL, SHL, PSH). 한 명은 숙련된 피험자였으며 두 명은 정신물리학 실험 경험이 없는 피험자였다.
2) 도구
Totoku 모니터를 사용하였으며 모니터의 해상도는 640ⅹ480, 100Hz로 설정하였다. 시각 제시 프로그램은 MathWork사의 Matlab을 사용하여 짰으며 Psychophysics Toolbox의 함수들을 이용하였다 (Brainard, 1997; Pelli, 1997).
3) 자극과 과제
그림3, 그림4와 같이 고리형 자극을 사용하였으며 피험자는 화면의 중앙에 초점을 맞추었다. 각각의 Gabor element의 σ = 0.2 visual angle (VA), spatial frequency = 3 cycles/visual angle로 설정하였다. 고리 자극의 반지름은 6 VA였으며 고리 자극은 72개의 Gabor element로 이루어져 있다. 피험자마다 contrast calibration test(Contrast Calibration 실험 방법 참고) 를 통해서 피험자 각각에 맞는 contrast level의 자극을 제시하였다.
